Misc News, Movie News  •  By  •  Comments Off on Tolkien’s Lord Of The Rings love letter up for auction

A letter in which author J.R.R. Tolkien debates whether to change a major plot point in The Lord Of The Rings is going up for auction. The note, written to Tolkien’s publisher Rayner Unwin in 1955, describes the novelist’s troubles while completing the third book in the trilogy, The Return of The King.
In the letter, Tolkien reveals poet W. H. Auden had urged him to cut out the romance between his characters Aragorn and Arwen, played by Viggo Mortensen and Liv Tyler in the film series, as he found the relationship “unnecessary and perfunctory”. The writer then appealed to his publisher, “I still find it (the romance) poignant… I hope you do,” before going on to address his concerns over whether the book was too long, adding, “I have I expect in the end kept too much.”
The letter will go under the hammer at Bonhams auction house in London on March 19 and is expected to fetch as much as US$12,800.

Movie News  •  By  •  Comments Off on “Jamie Marks Is Dead” clip released!

Director Carter Smith follows up his 2008 release The Ruins with Jamie Marks Is Dead, which premiered last month at the Sundance Film Festival. While we wait for release details, check out a creepy clip and the festival poster for the paranormal flick! The film stars Liv Tyler, Judy Greer, Noah Silver, Cameron Monaghan, Madisen Beaty, and Morgan Saylor.
Synopsis: Adam McCormick had just turned fifteen when the body was found in the woods. It is the beginning of an autumn that will change his life forever. Jamie Marks was a boy a lot like Adam, a boy no one paid much attention to—a boy almost no one would truly miss. And for the first time, Adam feels he has a purpose. Now, more than ever, Jamie needs a friend. But the longer Adam holds on to Jamie’s ghost, the longer he keeps his friend tethered to a world where he no longer belongs…and the weaker Adam’s own ties to the living become. Now, to find his way back, Adam must learn for himself what it truly means to be alive.

Movie News  •  By  •  Comments Off on Will we ever see Liv Tyler in a The Strangers sequel?

It is the age-old story of a Hollywood movie being such a big hit that everybody starts calling for a sequel to get made and then the rumour mill starts to churn with talk of such a sequel. A lot of the time the studios do like to cash in on the success of a movie by making a sequel, yet there are also those that never happen.
Liv Tyler starred in The Strangers
Back in 2008, actress Liv Tyler starred in the impressive movie The Strangers, which proved to be quite the hit with fans and critics alike. With the way that The Strangers ended it most certainly left it open to a sequel and it was not long before talk of The Strangers sequel began to spread, with Liv Tyler attached to return.
There was still talk of The Strangers 2 happening in 2011, with a script being completed, a new director on board and Liv Tyler agreeing to a smaller role in the film. Meanwhile, the three stars who played the original villains were also set to return, torturing a new family, yet we have yet to see any progress on this project.
Even last year we heard rumours that The Strangers 2 was going to begin filming soon but again, nothing has happened. The fans most definitely want to see The Strangers sequel hit the big screen and, with a lot of the nonsense horror movies we have had of late, it would be nice to see something good.

Interviews  •  By  •  Comments Off on Liv Tyler Teams Up With One Kings Lane — We Swoon

If there was a celeb award for moving through life (and down the red carpet) with grace and ease, Liv Tyler would win. Model, actress, mom, street-style pro, and hostess with the mostess, she literally co-wrote (with her grandmother) the manual for modern manners. It was no surprise, then, when she teamed up with One Kings Lane for an awesome guest-editor sale. Reflecting her self-described eclectic style and passion for vintage, her picks are the perfect “girly-chic meets old-fashioned cozy” vibe.
So, we hopped on the phone to discuss her manners pet peeves, holiday-playlist go-to songs, and design point of view. And, the only thing better than sweeping up everything at the star’s One Kings Lane sale? An invite to peek at her N.Y. pad (and dreamy pink sofa!) for ourselves. (Liv, we promise to bring our best manners.)
How would you describe your own home/design aesthetic in a few words?
“I’m so eclectic in my taste, and I really collect things from all over. I have this beautiful pink couch — it looks a little bit like a Chanel bag, has all these tassels…My taste is also a little bit old-fashioned, a little girly. I love the Hollywood-Deco vibe, all with a weird, modern twist of Danish.” Continue reading…

Misc News, Other Projects  •  By  •  Comments Off on Modern Manners: Tools to Take You to the Top

New Yorkers—and let’s face it, today’s youth—are preceded by the unfortunate reputation of being brisk and rude (we’re just in a rush!). And, while we’re not apologizing for our breakneck schedules and attitudes, it wouldn’t hurt anyone to brush up on etiquette. Thankfully, a refresher course on the rules of sophisticated socializing has landed on our doorstep, care of one Dorothea Johnson—the sought-after Washington, DC etiquette expert—and her granddaughter, the one and only Liv Tyler. So, before you interact with another member of humanity, take a peek inside Modern Manners: Tools to Take You To The Top:
The DOs:
“…maintain eye contact while shaking hands and greeting someone.”
“…show respect for the invisible personal space of others; keep your body at a minimum of about 18 inches (1½ feet) between you and the other person.”
“…let the person finish talking before you chime in.”
“…answer the phone with confidence and a smile, because that smile can be heard.”
“…return calls as soon as possible.”
“…use spell-check and proofread your message before sending.”
“…be aware that all feedback won’t be positive, because there are envious and unkind people who thrive on negativity.”
“…step aside before boarding a train to allow exiting passengers to depart. Rushing to get on board is not only rude but also can cause someone to fall.”
“…use earphones when listening to music.”
“…take small bites, and you’ll find it’s easier to join the conversation.”
“…keep the toast short and simple. Use the three B’s: Begin—Be Brief—Be Seated.”
