News  •  By  •  Comments Off on Liv Tyler Thrilled By Her Father’s ‘American Idol’ Debut

Steven Tyler’s judging debut on “American Idol” last week has certainly impressed one important person – his daughter, Liv Tyler.

“I loved it so much, I loved him and was just glued to the television,” she told FOX411’s Pop Tarts ahead of the premiere of her new thriller “The Ledge” at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah on Friday. “I had goose bumps all over me, it was amazing.”

And the “Aerosmith” rocker certainly seems to be relishing the new role, and recently told us that being father to three daughters stops him from being too cruel to contestants.

“I was nervous, sure. I was nervous about saying the right thing at the wrong time, or the wrong thing at the right time,” Tyler said. “It’s gotten easier. It does get easier. For the first couple (of contestants) I didn’t want to be cruel, I’ve got three daughters. I know people have a voice, they are born with a voice, but that’s not what we are here for.

“Randy keeps reminding me that it is 2011, and ‘American Idol’ (has) high standards, a high bar, and they have got to go through that and I’ve got to be able to see the whole thing,” he added.

News  •  By  •  Comments Off on IFC Picks Up Liv Tyler Thriller ‘The Ledge’

A strong Sunday of dealmaking continued through the night into Monday with IFC Films’ purchase of The Ledge, writer-director Matthew Chapman’s drama about a young man threatening to jump off a high-rise office building. IFC paid just over $1 million for the film, which will get theatrical and VOD releases in the late Spring. The deal finally closed around 3 am.

The company grabbed domestic rights to the character study, which premiered at Sundance on Friday afternoon and is screening in the festival’s U.S. dramatic competition. The sale was the first to close Monday, after an avalanche of Sunday deals: Paramount and Indian Paintbrush’s purchase of Like Crazy, Roadside Attractions and Lionsgate’s partnership in picking up Margin Call, Fox Searchlight’s purchase of Homework and The Weinstein Co. and Ron Burkle’s purchase of My Idiot Brother.

The film has gotten mixed reviews (here’s THR’s Kirk Honeycutt’s review), but there were at least three other bidders in the hunt. Sources indicate that the film’s erotic quotient was an element in closing the deal and could help sell the film to audiences.

Ledge was repped by Cassian Elwes, Kevin Iwashina of Parlay Media and producer Mark Damon’s Foresight Unlimited, who negotiated with IFC Films execs Arianna Bocco and Betsy Rodgers. Michael Mailer also produced.

The film features Charlie Hunnam as Gavin, the would-be jumper, and Terrence Howard as Hollis, a detective who joins Gavin on the ledge to convince him not to jump. Throughout the course of their precarious conversation, both men reveal details of their past troubles and enduring difficulties. Liv Tyler also stars as Shauna, a former drug addict wrapped up in a love triangle with the jumper — an atheist — and her fundamentalist husband, played by Patrick Wilson.

IFC recently released the 2010 Sundance doc Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work, Tiny Furniture and Carlos.

Press Articles  •  By  •  Comments Off on Liv Tyler, “Hell” in Prison

Liv Tyler reaps praise from a number of film critics for her role in her new movie, ‘The Ledge’. For her, that praise is being a high price that is paid for bad experiences that she had gone through during the filming.

This 33 years old actress is still difficult to erase the memories when she had to do terrible shooting at a prison in Louisiana. She was shaken like she saw hell in prison.

Her role in this movie is as a wife of a prisoner forced her into a real jail cell. She entered the isolation room cramped with small glass window and door. “We were in a prison that was very scary,” she told Hollyscoop.
